Edelweiss is the easier of the Gentianes via ferrata routes, but it still sits in a true high-alpine setting above 3,000 metres. From the Col des Gentianes, the approach is short and the climbing begins quickly on the southeast ridge of the Pointe de Cion. The line mixes a few steeper steps with a short traverse before easing into more steady progress toward the summit. On clear days the views are broad and dramatic, but good weather matters here: this is a mountain route, not a playground.
