Privacy policy
This page explains which personal data Viva Ferrata processes when you use the website, and why. In short: no cookies, no advertising, and everything runs in Switzerland.
Who is responsible
Andreas Böni is responsible for this website. For any question about your data, write to contact@vivaferrata.ch.
Visiting the website
When you open a page, your browser sends your IP address and technical details such as the browser type to our server. This is needed to deliver the page. We do not keep access logs of your visits.
The website runs on our own server in Switzerland.
Cookies
Viva Ferrata sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
Usage statistics
To learn what visitors look for and what is missing, we count page views with Umami, an analytics tool that runs on our own server in Switzerland. Umami sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
For each page view, Umami records the page, the website you came from, the browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and approximate location (country, region and city). It also records a few actions: map searches that find nothing, including the search term, routes picked from the search, filters that leave no route, clicks on links to other websites, GPX downloads and visits to pages that do not exist.
Your IP address is used only to work out the approximate location and to form an anonymous visitor ID that changes every month. It is not stored, and the data does not tell us who you are.
We delete this data after three months.
Contact form
When you send the contact form, we receive your message, the language of the page and, if you enter them, your name and email address. The form sends this to us as an email to contact@vivaferrata.ch. The mailbox is hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland.
We use this data only to handle your message. We delete it once your request is dealt with, at the latest after one year.
To prevent abuse, the server keeps your IP address in memory for one hour to limit the number of messages. It is not stored.
Map
The map comes from swisstopo, the Swiss Federal Office of Topography. To show it, your browser loads map data directly from swisstopo (vectortiles.geo.admin.ch), which receives your IP address in the process. The privacy policy of swisstopo applies to this.
Links to other websites
Links to Instagram, route operators, public transport or rental shops lead to other websites. Once you follow such a link, the privacy policy of that website applies.
Purpose and disclosure
We process your data only to run and improve the website and to answer your messages. Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, this is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not sell your data, use it for advertising or pass it on to anyone other than the services named above.
Your rights
You can ask which data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Write to contact@vivaferrata.ch.
If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU, to the data protection authority of your country.
Changes
We update this page when the website changes. The version published here applies.
