Via Ferrata Le Pilier climbs the sunny northeast pillar of the Moléson and is the easier of the two routes on this mountain, though it still feels alpine and exposed in places. From Plan-Francey, the approach is short and straightforward, and the route itself mixes steep ladder climbing with more relaxed sections on grassy ledges. A few airy passages and short overhanging moves add spice, and a harder variant is available for those wanting more of a challenge. In good weather, it is a scenic half-day outing with broad views over Gruyère.
