Square vide II is the most demanding line in Charmey’s via ferrata area, rated K6 for climbers with very solid experience and excellent physical condition. The route is compact but serious: expect sustained, athletic climbing, very few places to rest, and a strong sense of exposure almost throughout. The ascent is only part of the outing, because the descent remains part of the itinerary and asks for concentration as well as energy. Access is possible from May to October. The full Charmey via ferrata area also offers a 66 m footbridge on the descent section, which can be bypassed, and wide views over the Gastlosen, the Moléson and the Fribourg region once you are higher up.
