Plan Praz Via Ferrata in Leysin is a sporty, highly demanding route for experienced ferrata climbers. It stays mostly in the forested cliff band, so the atmosphere is calmer and less exposed than some open routes, but the climbing is still physical and starts without much warm-up. Expect traverses, short steep passages, suspension elements, a balance beam, rope bridges and a pair of large ladders near the end. The route is well suited to strong arms and efficient movement, and it can be shortened by an escape option if needed. Allow about an hour to a little more depending on pace. In summer it is often shaded; in the leafless seasons it feels sunnier. Equipment rental is available nearby, and a guided ascent is also an option.
