Beginner's via ferrata
OpenK2-K3moderately easy to moderately difficult

At Gumen, high above Braunwald, this short via ferrata is designed as a gentle first step into the sport for children and adults alike. The easier line is graded K2, with an optional K3 variant for those who want a little more challenge. It is a compact loop rather than a long mountain outing, and the route is best suited to confident, sure-footed guests who are free from vertigo. The protected terrain makes it a good place to practise clipping, movement on iron, and route reading in a controlled setting.
Allow roughly 45 to 90 minutes, depending on pace and children’s confidence. The route starts near the Berggasthaus Gumen and is climbed in a clockwise direction; the harder section branches off early and the lines rejoin later before the final return to Gumen. Because the ferrata is intended for beginners, careful supervision and proper via ferrata equipment are essential.
