The Franz Schumacher memorial via ferrata is the easier K3-style descent line from the Leiteregg back toward Gumen. It is a short but memorable alpine section: a first steel ladder, airy traverses, and a few straightforward climbing moves lead you along the wall, while the exposure is generally less pronounced than on the more difficult variants. Good sure-footedness and a head for heights are still essential, especially on the ladder sections. The route is useful both as a descent from Leiteregg and as an ascent option. It offers a compact Braunwald experience with fine views and a technically lighter character, but it still calls for proper via ferrata equipment and careful clipping throughout.
