The Vorder–Mittler Eggstock route is the red circular via ferrata in the Eggstöcke above Braunwald. It is rated K3 and is best thought of as a full mountain outing rather than a quick scramble: the route takes several hours, and the final descent is long and steep enough to demand steady fitness and an early start. The line stays on the ridge and gives wide views into the surrounding Glarus landscape. A secure via ferrata set, helmet and solid mountain footwear are required, and the fixed steel cable must not be left.
