The Allmenalp via ferrata is a classic K4 outing above Kandersteg: steep right from the start, varied all the way up, and consistently airy. Iron steps, ladders, rope bridges and short zip-line sections give the route a playful feel, but the overall character remains athletic and exposed. The line climbs beside the Allmibach and its waterfalls, so the setting is as memorable as the climbing itself. Plan on around two to three hours for the ascent, with the cable car or the descent on foot via Ueschinental as the usual return options. The route is open in the warm season only and should be avoided in bad weather. Good fitness, sure-footedness, a head for heights and full via ferrata equipment are essential.
